You'll find us downtown, in the Alpine Garden and in Hartford's beautiful parks, caring for flower beds and working on projects that make Hartford the best place to live and work.

About Us

We are all unpaid volunteers who share a passion for beautiful landscaping, an attractive downtown, flowers and most importantly, the City of Hartford. We plant and maintain the flower baskets and urns along Main Street and pots in Centennial Park. Our efforts are seen along the Riverwalk where we created a beautiful Alpine Garden and care for plants and flowers on both sides of the Rubicon River and Millpond area. Volunteers care for various other plots around town adding touches of beauty for all to enjoy. In 2021 VBH began managing the holiday lights display at the Riverwalk.

We work closely with the City of Hartford and the Parks Department. We meet every Monday evening 6-7pm (weather Permitting) and Thursday Morning 8:30- 9:30 to maintain the gardens along the Riverwalk and Centennial park. Drop-ins most welcome!
